Paul,

RPG can talk XML through APIs today.

Whether that will be ~native~ in the next release of the language is up to George Farr.

The next version of RPG will have the ability to write XML. SEQUEL has
been able to do it for quite a while.

Sure...anytime. I'm wondering if they want to store their data in XML
files rather than physical files. There's a lot to be not said for
that. XML is a pretty good way of exchanging data, especially between
disparate systems. However, if all your data was described and stored
using XML, you wouldn't have a relational data base.

I'd be happy to get on a conference call with you and your client if
you want. Gratis of course...

Mike,

well, yeah, that's what I thought as well, but they were rather sure of
their point of migrating from RPG to XML. And, well, I can't keep up
with
everything and was curious as to what may be out there I'd not heard of.

Thanks
