With distinct_custs as (select distinct conum, cunum
                        from transfile
                        where <your criteria>
                        )
Select cust.*
From custfile cust, distinct_custs dc
Where cust.conum = dc.conum
  and cust.cunum = dc.cunum

Either use F13 to output the results to a file or wrap the above in an
INSERT or CREATE TABLE AS

Subject: SQL solution for copying subset of one file to
another,based on a third's contents?

I need to copy a subset of a huge customer file into a test
version of the
file. The customer file is uniquely keyed by company number
(CONUM) and
customer number (CUNUM). The subset is to be derived from a
transaction
file, which has the CONUM & CUNUM keys. Problem is that the
transaction
file will have multiple records for any customer record. Can
SQL's INSERT
somehow be used for this, or is this more easily solved by an RPG
application?

TIA,
Dan
