Larry,

WTF?

The only writable DVD drive the iSeries supports is DVD-RAM. What else
would DUPOPT write to besides DVD-RAM? Virtual? I didn't think there
was supposed to be a difference between virtual and physical. Also
didn't DUPOPT come out before writable virtual optical? Heck, you don't
need DUPOPT to duplicate a physical to virtual or virtual to virtual
AFAIK.

I've used DUPOPT to copy DVD-RAM to virtual and then to another DVD-RAM.

I'd go back and hammer on IBM.

Subject: DUPOPT issue, you gotta be kidding!!

OK On a V5R4 system I imported three DVD-RAM images into an image
catalog. These images were originally created with LICPGM option 40.
I mounted the image catalog into a virtual optical drive.
I loaded a blank DVD-RAM disk into the DVD-RAM drive on the system
I cranked up DUPOPT to duplicate the volume from the image catalog to
the DVD-RAM drive.

I get OPT1790 "Operation not allowed or conflicts with
another request"
reason 06.
Reason 06 is: "The media characteristics for the source and target
volumes do not match."

As previously mentioned the image were on a DVD-RAM (same
brand even!)
and so they should fit!

I called IBM and the told me that DUPOPT is not supported for copying
disks to DVD-RAM drives. So I have to copy the images to my PC and
duplicate them there. Say it isn't so!!
