Probably I do not understand very well what you are needing but if it is
to simply display both FLI, you can do this with SQL:

SELECT RFFILE, RFLIB, RFFILA, RFFATR, RFID FROM QTEMP/RESULTS

Field RFID will have the format level identifier and you can visually see
the differences, if any, like:

File Library File File Format Level
                        Attribute Attribute Identifier
MYFILE1 LIBR1 *PHY PF 7530460ACSFGC
MYFILE1 LIBR2 *PHY PF 3EE0538AC0B7C

Now, you are mentioning that you are "calling a program". Can you give us
more details about the purpose and logic of it?

Re: DSPFD

Thanks all who responded,

Iam just interested to compare only format level identifier, I brought
the two files onto one system by FTP... I dont want to compare on two
AS/400 sessions going line by line ,
if there is any difference in format level identifiers of two files it
should show me the difference upon calling the program, how do I go abuot
that?

Yes, you can safely use DSPFD for both files and write the results in
the
same file. Then you can use a query to list both and see for the
differences:

DSPFD FILE(MYLIB/MYFILE1) TYPE(*RCDFMT) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE)
OUTFILE(QTEMP/RESULTS) OUTMBR(*FIRST *ADD)
DSPFD FILE(MYLIB/MYFILE2) TYPE(*RCDFMT) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE)
OUTFILE(QTEMP/RESULTS) OUTMBR(*FIRST *ADD)

Just an idea...
