Once again, what we're seeing is the trend of the Application driving the acquisition decision.

Actually, the answer is: Define "running Oracle."

Can you run the Oracle database on i5/OS? No. Can you run it on i5
hardware as described by Jim below? Yes.

Can you run the Oracle-owned JD Edwards World suite on iSeries? Yes and
that's the only platform it runs on.

Can you run the Oracle-owned EnterpriseOne suite, formerly JDE OneWorld,
on iSeries? Yes for all components except the Deployment Server which
is only available for Windows (although you can use an IxS/IxA for it).

Can you run the Oracle-owned Peoples Enterprise suite on iSeries? No.
It is only available for Windows and *nix and there is no support for
DB2/400.

Can you run Oracle's own application suite on iSeries? I don't know but
I highly doubt it. I'm pretty positive it's dependent on the Oracle db
so probably not.

Can't you run Oracle on an Iseries???

Answer: Yes, but not under i5/OS. You must run it under AIX or Linux.
You can also put it up on an iSCSI/IXA/IXS attached Intel server.
