RE: storage reduction after IPL?

We used to be weekly at the tail end of a full system save.  Now the
full save followed by IPL is monthly.  Our nightly backups are something
like a *ALLUSR and use save-while-active and BRMS so restores aren't
that bad.

We could easily move to quarterly or even less often on the IPL schedule
but there's no reason to.

We IPL once a week as well coinciding with our weekly backup.  I think
that it's good that we do that, but it's not necessarily vital.  Once a
quarter is sufficient.

Here we have a weekly IPL also, included in the weekend backup program.

I think it's there in case PTF's have been applied during the week.

We're no 24/7 shop so there's no harm in that extra 15 minutes downtime
(all subsystems are shut down for the backup anyway).

Here they IPL every week but I think that is not necessary, I have given

them my opinion but they don't seem to want to change, conversely the
last 
place I was at hadn't IPL'd for nearly 2 years which is not right
either.
