You're not alone in this Aaron, and I would agree that most browser based
interfaces are less productive than 5250 when it comes to data entry and
maintenance, but I think I could change your mind with a brief demo of a
model I developed for database inquiry and maintenance, using just HTML,
CSS, JavaScript, and RPG.  Send me a private email if you'd be interested
in scheduling a "GotoMeeting" session.

Or look at any of the great examples of "rich client" interfaces, starting
with Microsoft Outlook Web Access.  The first time you use OWA, you'll be
amazed that it's a web application.

XUL is another great rich client interface, as is the Open Source ThinWire
middleware: http://www.thinwire.com/.

And of course, my PSC product allows either 5250 emulation in a browser with
all the standard field editing and function key support or the newer iQ
interface which has all the bells and whistles, but STILL supports basic
5250 data entry capabilities.
