I have multiple HMCs, so one will always be a "tester" of sorts and will
go to the latest-and-greatest immediately after release. However, if I
only had one I'd be more conservative and let the existing release
harden in the field for a couple months before going to it. See the
experience with HMC v6.1 and the "revoking" of the code shortly after
release.

Exception of course would be if you have some pressing requirement to
get to the next HMC level which would be needed to a different platform
firmware level. Otherwise I'd wait a month or so and let the bugs get
worked-out.

Exception two - if you have a 595, in which case I'd be all over IBM's
case with HMC levels - with the dual FSPs, the BPCs, the double-HMC
action - they're gonna be the ones telling me when to jump and just how
high on the HMC code.

Subject: When To upgrade Firmware on an HMC

Those of you who have an HMC when do you upgrade to the latest firmware
level? Do you upgrade as soon as one if available, or do you wait until
you need to upgrade the Firmware on the I5? Just wanted to poll every
one to see what their HMC upgrade policy is.
