James, V5R3M5 will work just fine on 'any' Power 5 (5xx) models. You can even put on selected 8xx (not all) and it will be fine. Now the 520+ requires M5 if you want to run V5R3 on it.

My 520 is at V5R3M0 currently.  I have the latest Cume installed but I
am still not at M5.  What is/are the PTF's to get you to M5?
