Don't SAN's have their own upgrades to put on also?

Much like the myth of the no controlling partition needed on the i5 when
doing lparing. Just try to upgrade the FSP and leave your partitions
running.

RE: iSeries and Sans

I'll agree with Mr. Barsa on this (maybe not the hooker part...) The
best
SAN for the iSeries is the iSeries disk subsystem itself. There is no
advantage to be gained attaching an iSeries to an external SAN (IMHO)
...
Now, attaching blade servers or IXA servers to the iSeries and utilizing

it's storage as a SAN ... That has merit.

We have been looking at SAN's (for our xSeries servers) and considered the

iSeries option. Since the disk is controlled by OS/400, doesn't this
option ultimately mean that the disk is unavailable when you are doing
things like applying PTF's or OS/400 upgrades? That is what we concluded,

so we are still focusing on the SAN option. We have seen enough that we
are not going to consider using the SAN for our iSeries disk storage
though.
