Understood. You can use REXX instead of CL... But isn't one of the
reasons to use CL is that it is a compiled language instead of
interpreted? Isn't REXX interpreted?

Scott's correct, there are multiple ways to call SQL other than
laboriously trying via CLLE.
 
And to make clear... you can eliminate CLLE or any sort of CL all
together and use REXX instead, doing all you did in CL and more AND call
SQL or QM and more.
