The 6390-001 in our 510 just burped. In my experience,
while QIC drives tend to outlast the machines they're
installed in, the same is not necessarily true of 8mm
drives.

It had to be cleaned, varied off, and varied back on,
before it would do anything. And I have yet to see whether
or not we get a successful backup out of it.

A search on eBay yielded nothing.

Anybody know of a source for reconditioned units?

Actually, I wouldn't mind shoving a QIC drive in while I'm
at it (it's not like we're hurting for tape drive bays),
although I dunno whether the boss would go for the
additional cost.
