What I might do is two separate SQL checks
1. get the MIN ( xmcdte ) value in that column, within the other criteria
2. get the row which = that value, and the other criteria

I want to select the row that has the
lowest value for a specific column. There may be other rows that satisfy the
selection criteria except for a specific column. So my select statement is:

SELECT XMMAIL, XMSmn1
FROM posmstp
WHERE xmmail <> ' '   and (the lowest xmcdte value)

How do I select only the row with the lowest xmcdte value?
