Subject: SQL - Lowest (by column) Select

Man...this thing is kicking my tail. I'm revisiting my issue
from yesterday
(Rob - thanks for the suggestion). I want to select the row
that has the
lowest value for a specific column. There may be other rows
that satisfy the
selection criteria except for a specific column. So my select
statement is:

SELECT XMMAIL, XMSmn1
FROM posmstp
WHERE xmmail <> ' ' and (the lowest xmcdte value)

How do I select only the row with the lowest xmcdte value?

Thanks...
