The printer is actualy a CANNON copier that is connected to the System i via
the TCP/IP network.
I have it defined as a Device Class *LAN, and Device Type 3812.
The USRDTAFTM is not allowed for AFP.

Thanks,

Jeff

Subject: Re: Laser Printer commands in APFDS print file

Hi Jeff,

Is there any way to insert native printer commands into a print stream
for a printer file using APFDS?

I've used two ways. WSCST and USRDTATFM. Both are capable of inserting
escape sequences based on the printer features. USRDTATFM can be somewhat
complex, but it makes it possible to insert codes that you might not be
able to insert otherwise (such as PJL commands).

However, if you can get by with simpler escape sequences, you might use
WSCST instead, as it's much, mich simpler to implement.

I have a print file that uses an overlay on the System i to print forms.
I would like to be able to print multiple copies and have them collated
by the printer when they are printed. Normal System i printing support
does not allow this, but the printer does support the function. The
customer is running V5R1M0.

Should be possible one way or the other. I don't remember exactly when
USRDTATFM became available (I've only used it on V5R3) but WSCST has been
around for a long time.

How is the printer connected? How is it currently configured?
