Upgrade to V5R4.  Then you can create a virtual tape, much like the
older virtual optical only with much enhancements.  Then they can use
the DUPTAP command from real to virtual back to a different real.

Or, have them talk to their local CE and see if some nice local company
has their tape drive and another tape drive.  Back when we used to have
4 or 5 different models on one lpar we did this for a few people.
Gratuities

Duplicating a Tape






Hello,

I have a client on a 170 running V5R1 that they would like to make a
duplicate a tape.  Their iSeries only has one tape drive so the DUPTAP
command is out.  Short of restoring all the data and resaving it to 
another
tape is there an easier solution?  There are about 1,500+ files on the 
tape
so this process would take a bit of effort.
