I absolutely agree. The point I was trying to make was that this was an"organizational" announcement, not technical and not marketing (atleast, directly). The bottom line being if we organize and evangelizewe'll get more folks looking at System i.

This is very new and I think IBM was still sitting the fence on whatthey think the outcome will be. I think Common members might be able tomake a difference but how BIG a difference remains to be seen. I can'trecall a computing hardware platform where "guerrilla marketing" orviral videos or non-traditional marketing techniques have had anoticeable impact on sales. That *could* be because non-traditionalmethods of marketing may not work for the decision-makers (usuallyconservative, traditional types) in IT arenas. I don't know for sure.

This will be cool if it works and it has my full emotional support. My"business hat" side isn't so sure.

it still need more buy in from the user community (I think).  It was
affirmed by all but I am not sure that it would have be characterized as
"enthusiastically" received.  But, then a user community enhancement,
rather than a hardware and software announcement, is a bit different.  I
am think thinking on it and what the overall impact it will have.
