I would recommend opening a session on the HMC of the system on the
local network and using a shared session from the remote location. This
way, if you lose remote network connectivity you won't lose console -
just link back up to the shared session.

I have used "virtual media" to do upgrades. I also have had wonderful
experiences using the remote access to HMC to upgrade boxes. However,
never have I done it without someone in close proximity. I suppose I
could, but in your case you'd better have a "what if" plan.

Subject
Remote upgrade of iSeries

Hello everyone,

Has anyone been involved in version/release upgrade from a central site
to
a remote site. The company I work for is contemplating doing this for
some
of our customers.

Sincerely,

Bill Swann
