You can have the tapes degaussed or the cartridges destroyed. If you
google "computer tape destruction" you can find a bunch of vendors that
can help you. Some can roll a truck to your site; others can pick up and
provide you with documentation. 

Personally, I tell the tape that I absolutely need to restore something
from it, and it magically decides that it can't be read from again ;)

  Just curious what people do with old (no longer needed) media tapes.
I have a ton of 3570 tapes I need to 'get rid of'....does anyone know of
proper procedures when it comes to the disposal of old data tapes from a
Corporation POV?
