Sounds like the i5 needs just as much administering to keep it running
as other systems. Selling the i5 at p5 prices would give us quad core
systems in place of the single and even fractional cores available in
the typical i5. With that kind of speed there would be no concern
about just in time index builds.

I disagree...It's not the i5 that "needs" that much administering...it's
the way the applications are designed. With proper design, etc the i5
has an initial setup required. After that it's pretty much
self-sustaining. Your statement is basically the same as saying that
the PC platform hardware sucks because Windoze is a sucky application
interface, etc. It's just not true. The hardware can be perfect but
it's the applications & their design that gives the false impression.
Why beat up GM. Ford, or any other automobile company when the rough
ride is caused by a knot on your tires??? Anyway I could go on forever
with examples like this. The point is simply you can't knock the
platform just because someone application might suck...

Thanks,
Tommy Holden

Man Steve you'll twist anything around just to turn it into a soapbox
for
your "sell the i5 at p5 prices" speech won't you?
