We have a 150 set up to be an FTP server for the rail-roads that gets IPLed
only when necessary (every six months or so), but all of our other systems are
IPLed once a week, after the backup, to apply PTFs. I know we don't have to,
but the system's in a restricted state anyway, and it's far easier to apply
PTFs delayed then while the system is active.

Subject: Question - Your IPL Frequency

  Hi All,

I noticed a small discussion on when to IPL a system. I wanted to take
a quick poll to see how often everyone here IPLs their systems?

Right now, our system is set up to perform a full system backup and IPL
immediately after this (it's done during non-production hours, so it
doesn't affect operations) on a weekly basis. Is weekly too frequent
for a new 520 box, or does it matter considering that it does not affect
  the operations?

  Thanks,

  Brian.
