I'd posted a message recently about a data truncation error with cpyfrmimpf and 
v5r3.  I said that we were getting a data truncation error on v5r3 where on 
v5r2 it did not happen.  That's what i said because that's how the problem was 
presented to me.

And like a rookie, i accepted that at face value and made the assumption that 
it was a ptf-issue.

Well...at some point last night while watching tv a stray thought popped into 
my head that said, "Wait a second moron. You've been doing this for nearly two 
decades. Why are you assuming the data is ok to begin with?"

So anyway...long story short...turns out that the data coming from the CSV file 
contained the sporadic record with one field that had more characters than the 
target file was expecting...hence the data truncation errors.

Gah!  Truly a case of looking for a zebra when the horse is standing right in 
front of you.
