Mike,

If all you're doing is address and zip code validation and you have no
other real need to talk to CICS from the iSeries, why not spend just a
few dollars (around $1,000) and get PER/ZIP from WorkRight Software,
Inc. It runs native on the iSeries and we use it to do all our Post
Office Address stuff and it will provide you with a USPS Certificate for
cheapest postage rates. All its functions can be used interactively or
in batch. I call it from REXX as well.

We switched from a hugely expensive zip code validation program on the
mainframe (ran under VSE) to PER/ZIP months ago and it's been supporting
all our validation needs very well. In fact, because of the dollar
savings the VSE program was eliminated and now the mainframe
applications that need zip code/address validation send their addresses
to the iSeries for validation.

Take care,

Dave Odom
