I was trying to map. I got on the I drive and tried to create a folder
there. it didn't allow.

Your reference to an "I" drive takes me back to the time of PC Support
where shared folders were used to store and access documents in QDLS.
It was slow and buggy and difficult to use. These days just sharing a
folder in the IFS and using "Map Network Drive" in windows is the
easiest way to handle access to folders in the IFS.

You have two things to do.  One is to use iSeries Navigator an establish
a share to a folder, or the root, of the IFS.  Start the iSeries
Navigator and then click on "File Systems" and then "Integrated File
System", select the Root  folder, find a folder with in the root to
share and right click to select "Sharing --> New Share".  Once you have
a share (make sure it is read/write), you can either use Windows
Explorer to create the folder within the share or you can always use the
mkdir command at the iSeries command line to create a new folder in the
IFS.

If you really do want to use QDLS and use the old shared folders, it has
been so long since I have done that I can't give you much counsel.  I
also don't know if that approach is still supported.

Hi,

I am looking at some study material. they talk about creating a new
folder on the I drive.

When I attempt to do so, I get this message, 'Unable to create the "new
folder" incorrect function.'

Is there anything I am not doing to fullfill this task?
