Greetings:

I send a copy of the overnight incremental backup tape to our satellite
warehouse each morning in an anti-static bag (because we discard dozens
of
those every day) to be stashed in a sturdy waterproof box. This is in
addition to the weekly data, and monthly full system, backups which are
held by our commercial off-site backup storage vendor. The incremental
tapes are rotated weekly. Our data loss risk should our main facility be

suddenly and totally wiped out is therefore:

until 8:00 a.m. - can lose changes back to previous day at 1:00
a.m.
after 8:00 a.m. - can lose changes back to today at 1:00 a.m.

The satellite warehouse is 0.9 miles away. If both buildings were
similarly situated in Canada, they would be about 1.5 kilometres apart.
If
a small asteroid hits between them we will have some difficulties
keeping
the business going.

Darrell
