I can do the same if I use an IBM command as the replacement.  I can't do it if 
I try
to use my own custom command.

I checked what I could of the exit points, but it doesn't seem to be relevant 
to the
issue at hand.  I will work on this more as a test when I have the time.

I was able to get this to work on a V5R3 system, but I don't know if I
did it the same way you did.  Hopefully there are some clues to be found
