Well, I'm not sure why you're getting a huge delay.  I'll try 
VERY hard not to let it be a way to vent about SQL <grin>.

But try this instead:

With T1 as
(Select RHITEM From dbmstf.DMRECHST
 Group By RHITEM
 Having Min(RHSYSD) = '2006-06-22')
Select DMITMMST.* From
 T1 join DMITMMST where RHITEM = ITNBR
Order by WHSLC, ITNBR

I replaced 'where' with 'in' and it ran just fine in about 5 seconds.  The
other one is still running . . .

This will build a temporary table with just the RHITEMs with 
a minimum date of today, and then join that to the item master.

I understand _exactly_ what's happening here.  The hard part is coming up
with the proper SQL statement to begin with.  Once I've got that SQL
statement, it seems really obvious, like I should have gotten it myself.

I'm used to using OPNQRYF in a CL wrapper for many things, but OPNQRYF
doesn't handle these situations.  It's starting to feel like a light bulb
turning on.  If SQL can do this kind of stuff, no wonder people get excited
over it.

PS, that other query is STILL running.  I'm going to see how long it takes
and if it comes up with the same results.
