I have not gone to V5R4 yet but I have been using V5R3 Operations
Console against V5R3 system. The system was preinstalled and set to Ops
Con when it arrived. I booted the system before having Ops Con on my PC
or anything connected to the AS400 but the Ethernet. Had no idea what
the IP was and no Twinax so I had to learn Ops Con fast. Works Ok most
of the time. I would definitely make sure the PC is upgraded first. I
know that newer PC software works with older OS400 stuff but generally
not the reverse.

I too have a memory leak and could enjoy a new ground hog day, daily.

Subject: V5R4 Install - Client Access before is/OS?

All,

I use Operations Console. The V5R4 install manual 'recommends'
installing
V5R4 of Client Access before installing V5R4 of i5/OS if you use
Operations Console. Did any of you do this? Or not do this? If so,
can't I just do this from the appropriate LICPGM CD I got?

Also, it says to vary off IXS cards before the install.

I don't remember doing either of these on prior releases. OTOH, my
memory is so bad sometimes that I think I could live Groundhog Day for
real and every day would still be a Totally Unique Experience.
