For a somewhat visual representation of what this is saving you can try 
the command WRKLNK.  From there you can drill down into different 
directories.  A little prettier with iSeries Navigator, File Systems, 
Integrated File systems.

There are a couple of commands that you can run:  RTVDIRINF and PRTDIRINF. 
 Be warned!  On a system with any size this may take DAYS to run even if 
you can do your entire company's period end close in 15 minutes.  If you 
run this with STRDBG on you can see that IBM really ran amok with some 
really bad SQL implementation to print this information.  So bad, that it 
would make Pluta grin from ear-to-ear.  :-)
