just a reminder that V5r4 will be last release where Websphere Development
toolkit will contain RPGII compiler. Later releases the compiler
will be available in a PRPQ for some undetermined price (at common they said
and i quote "thousands"). Even without the PRPQ, the S36ee still works -
and you could keep an old server just to compile with.
Also, the S36 Migration tools no longer ship in the OS, so taking an AS36 to

I also have a client running an AS36.  I actually worked in POP the
other day and remembered quite a bit.  Also wrote a small OCL proc and
built some F&I specs.

and run in S36EE mode.  The interface to him and his users will be the
same.  The reports will be the same.

Yes, he will have IP connectivity and other niceties but until he
rewrites his app (xlat=$$$$$$) he won't really be able to take advantage
of the iSeries side.

The client has an M36 machine, but is not all that interested in
upgrading. I keep telling him he's working without a net, because the
number of folks who can do anything with that system are disappearing from
the market rapidly. His console really is a 5251 Mod 11.
