I worked in Rochester for a couple years, 1 at IBM as hired help, then a couple years at an ISV there. One thing that seemed to strike me about social strata there - it has no middle - there is the professional level and there is the service level. I'm sure that is an oversimplification, but it always felt a little strange there.

Actually, there are a few who don't work for IBM or Mayo.
There the ones pumping gas, waiting tables, and keeping
