I know I've had some whitepapers, etc, on that topic over the years, but the 
only thing I had in the pile at hand was an old redbook SG24-2163-02. That was 
from about 1999 (there may be newer editions), so a lot of the details have 
changed, but it had a whole chapter on Java versus traditional app & work mgmt. 
If I run across anything else I'll let you know.

Also some of the sizing docs may help you, i.e. where IBM is talking about 
sizing for WebSphere App Server.

Our application provider is developing an enhancement to the existing
app and it is developed in java.  Apprarently, our model 800 will not be
able to support this satisfactorily in terms of performance.
 
Can someone point me to some documentation that addresses needing a
bigger, better, faster box to run java apps.  I need to write a report
on this issue.  Thanks.
