Re: SMTP troubles (AGAIN!)

To expand on a few things here.

1.  The QGATE@xxxxx address you're seeing is the iseries.
 Aparenetly JAvaMail may use the IBM SMTP server to send
mail (the send mail API)

2.  The iseries really has no problem delivering mail to
recipients without a mail router as long as your firewall
allows traffic over the SMTP port.  

3.  MAILTOOL alone uses the IBM SMTP server to send mail.
 Wiht the addition of the MAILTOOL Plus addon, the IBM SMTP
server it TOTALLY bypassed, sending either directly to
recipients or your mail router.  IT also can produce
trace/debug files that are a BAJILLION times easier to
follow than the IBM SMTP "flight recorder."  This makes it
super easy to see what the issue is.

4.  You can get a free trial of MAILTOOL at
www.bvstools.com/mailtool.html.  :)

5.  Finally, you shouldn't be having Reverse DNS issues
unless you're sending to a recipient who needs it.  But
with the use of a mail router, this should be already set
up.  Sending form the iSeries without a mail router to a
server that requires RDNS can be troublesome to say the
least (unless you have really good network support guys).

6.  99% of the time when using a mail router, and it
doesn't work, the problem is with the mail router (from my
experience..)  <smile>
