I can't speak for Oracle, DB2 on Windows, MySQL, etc. But I know for a
fact you can see the current log in SQLServer, I just tried it. 

Check out the "DBCC Log" command. It's the basis for many third-party
tools like Lumigent's Log Explorer, but DBCC itself is a native
SQLServer command. And I'll bet if it works in SQLServer it would work
in Sybase too.
