Debbie,

A redundant power supply is simply a second power supply.  Instead of
having one power cord, your iSeries would have two.  Since only one
power supply is needed to run ths system the iSeries doesn't go down if
one power supply fails.  In addition, if for instance you have each
power supply plugged into a separate UPS, then if one UPS fails, the
system isn't brought down.
