Re: Solution #2 using an IxA.

It doesn't take up any slots on the iSeries.  The IxA card actually goes
in the PC, not the iSeries.  Then the IxA card in the PC is connected
into the same HSL loop that your external towers are on.

There is really on one cable from the IxA attached PC to the iSeries;
the SPCN (?) cable that controls power on/off.

If you have an iSeries without any external cables, then yes, it looks
like three cables are going from the iSeries to the IxA.  But if you
have external towers already on the HSL loop, the IxA attached PC hooks
into the loop without needing additional HSL cables going to the
iSeries.  (Unless you've max'd out the current HSL loop and need to add
a complete new one).
