It seems like all you have to do is check what subsystem the job is running in..? If it is in QCTL, it won't get stomped on - QINTER and it will get stomped on....

Use QUSRJOBI API (http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r1/ic2924/index.htm?info/apis/qusrjobi.htm) or RTVJOBA and look at the RUNPTY, maybe??

We run an interact job to monitor the end of the actual "Back-up".  In the
interact job, we end the subsystems.  If the Operator ran the back up from
the second session, the back up would be canceled when the subsystems were
being brought down.  This would also prevent all the after "Back-up" steps
that are performed to restart the system from executing.
