Doug is essentialy right. The percentage of Fortune 500 companies that use 
AS/400s or iSeries (or...) is close to the 90% range, maybe a few % more, matbe 
a few less.

Of course, if you know someone who works in one of the data centers for one of 
those companies, that doesn't mean that that person has any idea that there's 
an AS/400 in use in some department somewhere in the corporate network. One 
might be in the same place it was 15 years ago running the same apps it always 
has. It might not be "running the business" or controlling the company but just 
handling inventory for some of the warehouses or some other task.

That's what "midrange" systems do for a whole bunch of "mainframe" companies.
