Very simple:

1) GO SAVE
2) Option '21. Entire System'
2b) Option '21. Entire System' (a 2nd copy for safety)
3) Power down
4) Replace components
5) IPL from backup tape
6) Restore from tape

Now, for the nitty gritty details, look in the Backup and Recovery
Manual. Here's a link to the v5r1 version:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r1/ic2924/info/rzahgicbackup.htm

Also, make might want to make sure that the tape drive is set up as an
alternate IPL device. If it's not, and can be configured that way, then
do so. If it can't then you'll have to IPL from CD then switch to
restoring from tape.

But, with just a model 170, I'd give it about 99.9% chance that the tape
drive is configured as an alternate IPL device.

The list will be here after you look through the manual.
