We have an industrial size UPS that powers the entire computer room and phone switch. Out back is a generator that fires up within 30 seconds of utility power loss. Our iSeries boxes have dedicated circuits from the UPS.

Equipment racks fight for the quads under the floor-- we've had a few 'oopses' when a tug on the wrong cord unplugged something.

All usually goes well. However, there was the day of The Big Storm. Wind blew rain all over the place. No problems with the computer room; I think we may have had a power blink or two, but no problems. Until the alarm for "water under the floor" went off. Although the systems were up, we had to shut down, open the floor, and use shop vacs to suck the water out from around power connections...

Turns out the wind blew leaves around in addition to the rain, and clogged the drains from the roof. So the water found the best path down was to follow the pipes from the air conditioner to under the floor.

So much for the generator!
