Figured it out ! Management Central on the iSeries server was stopped. The
reason it stopped was because QSECOFR password had expired. Even though the
profile was enabled, the password expiration level was 2-11-06 and so was
expired. There is a dependency on QSECOFR in iSeries Navigator and
Management Central. So I reset the password and all is well in my world.
Hope this helps you...

Just a glimmer of a memory here, but wasn't there supposed to be an entry
in
the hosts table for the local system, that matched the domain configured in
the TCP/IP config? Something like that......

I don't know if your problem is the same as mine (or what my problem is)
but I got the inventory collection to run on one system and not another.
The failing system has a job QYPSJSVR that shows an error in the log:
CPFB9A1 Management Central connection failed.

I'm guessing that is why mine doesn't work. It somehow is trying to
connect to a host which it should not. I just need to figure out *why*
it's trying to connect to that host!

Hopefully this will get you closer to your solution as well.
