Assuming that you are creating a *DSPF menu, then after the menu is
created use CHGDSPF xxxxx CHRID(*JOBCCSID) where xxxxx is the name of your
menu. So long as you are using GO xxxxx in a job with a non-65535 CCSID
then you should be OK. I am also assuming here that you are creating the
menu in an environment where your job CCSID (500) matches the device you
are using (CHRID(697 500)) - the scenario you have in your last note.

The CCSID(297) should remain as 297 as that is related to the source you
created the object from (in this case a source file CCSID tagged 297). The
CHRID controls what data conversions might be done by the system for you.
*DEVD basically means none.

My display device CHRID is "697 297" and the CCSID of my job was 500. I
changed my device description CHRID from "697 297" to "697 500" and
created the menu again with CHRID(*DEVD) but the result is the same. I
checked the DSPF CCSID after creating the menu and it is still "297".

Anymore ideas ?

Thanks,
Christian

The default CCSID for CRTDSPF is CHRID(*DEVD). Check the CCSID of the
display device. It probably doesn't match the CCSID of the job you used to
create it in SDA.

Subject: Problem when displaying a DSPF I just created

Hello,

I created a MENU object with french accentuated characters like é à etc...

When working in SDA, the text is correctly displayed but when calling the
menu (GO...) the text is not displayed correctly. The accentuated
characters
are replaced by others like @, { or }.

Can anyone help me ?

Thanks,
Christian.
