You can implement a left outer join with a correlated sub query, and you
can implement multiplication with addition. However if I was on a system
that had no multiplication operator, when every other system from the
same vendor had it, and every other system from every other vendor had
it, I might start to get the idea that it was an old system on the way
out.

Honestly I prefer it if they give us new features instead of new ways of

spelling existing functions.  The manual clearly stated that the
"over..." 
was often duplicated using a join.  So, new function?  No.  Clearer 
syntax?  Yes.
