Three fields, the first two being 5 bytes and the third being 4 bytes, for a
total of 14 bytes. If you pack the fields, you would cut 2 bytes for each
of the first two fields and 1 on the third for a total of 5 bytes. are we
in agreement so far?

You are talking 35% of the total size, I am sure for some that is not a big
deal, but I would love to save it if I could.

If you bought it, it was hauled by a truck - somewhere, sometime.
