The LUG would be the place to start. In the hour or two that most LUG's have for meetings, all that they can do is give an overview of what's new.

COMMON, though, already has sessions scheduled specific to V5R4, such as CL enhancements and iSeries Navigator. Plus the best part is that there'll be folks there that know v5r4 (developers) and early migrators (both beta and fish food).

I thought I read somewhere, Joel, that the Charlotte LUG died. Is there a resurgence? If not, having lived in Charlotte for several years, my best guess is that Atlanta would be the closest for you. Unless Wilmington has one (been there, done that, survived). Oh, almost forgot about Triad in Greensboro. They always have a good show; at least the times I went there.

According to the announcement V5R4 Infocenter should be updated on GA date, 2/14/2006.

There is a lot of cool stuff in there. There was much that was NOT discussed in the Ian Jarmin / COMMON / iSeriesNetwork / Linoma presentation today (like cool new ways to deal with joblogs). Some stuff that was glanced over, (like save/restore of spool files).

I suggest you attend your local LUG as suggested at
