I have go in to our iSeries HMC and configured the Alternate Console for
CTL01. That is the 5095 tower slot C03 where the Twinax adapter is. I
created the device description of DSP01 at CTL01, Port 0 and Switch
setting of 0. The 3476 terminal comes up as DSP01 but in Qinter. My
question is, do I need to IPL the partition to make the change
effective? Under what circumstances does the alternate console become a
true restricted state usable console? I want our operators to use this
instead of the HMC for complete system saves which means to put the
system into restricted state.

TIA
