I've always blamed communications problems. The difference for me is that I never see the "unfreeze" portion. I have to end the job, wait just as patiently, and normally vary the device off and on (again waiting ever so patiently.)

The "Call stack unavailable" (I seem to recall different wording) I have always taken as a sign that the job is lost.

I'm curious if your users getting stuck are local or remote.
