Couple of hundred, tops. And they sit in dusty, dirty environments and just
run and run. NO WAY any normal PC is going to do that. I know this for a
fact. We HAVE and a UPS PC in an office in most of these areas and these
things are having constant problems; CD drives quit working, ditto for
diskette drives (although they aren't used much), over heating, etc. But
that is one device doing that. They are 4 or more terminals in these same
offices and the same number right outside of them that just run and run and
run. I cannot IMAGINE the support nightmare I would have if they were all
PC's...

It's been years since I priced a dumb terminal.  Just out of curiosity, what
do they go for these days? If you can get a good basic PC for under $400, I
can't imagine why you'd want to spend more than that on a dumb terminal.
