Havent seen it, but sounds like a macro language to me!

It is not a macro language like the former IBM Net.Data or the like. I have actually had the pleasure of trying this product out.

Basically what you do is to have your source (either RPG or Cobol) saved into the integrated filesystem. Then you open it up using a WYSIWYG editor or a simple text editor. You place ASP-like syntax into the source and save. Then you launch the file using the IceBreak build in HTTP server.

Advantages:
    - Runs natively on iSeries.
    - Uses the already known iSeries compilers and debuggers.
- You can use login using iSeries usernames/passwords or build you own security on validation lists or some other way you may like.
    - You can use your existing business logic
- Use the already known knowledge of service programs, embedded SQL etc. - You can now call IceBreak programs from within your 5250 applications and thus get access to external webservices etc.
    - Very easy to build HTML, XHTML, XML content using templates.
    - Seperate content from logic.
- Runs with natively 5250-application speed instead of the WebSphere like Java-speed (or lack of it).

Disadvantages:
    - Requires V5R1+
- Documentation could be better.... but I know that a solution to this is under way.

If anyone have any more question I'd be glad helping you out. I have worked with IceBreak for the past year and think I'm really into the product.... even from the first day that is.... :o)

JohnF
