Hello Yivi

I wa going to ask whether you had looked at the manuals, so I went to InfoCenter. It is crazy how hard it is to get to the DDS reference for physical files. Every time something is done to InfoCenter it gets harder to use. Gotta love it!

Anyway, I found no reference to identity columns in the latest DDS manual, so I will say the answer is no. There is very little new stuff going into DDS - most of the new features are SQL only. But remember that you can still USE the files in RPG programs or any other place you need.

Hello everyone. Hoping this is the right list for this question...

Is it possible to create a table with an automatically generated column (an
'identity' in DB2, autonum or auto_increment in different DBs) using DDS, or
I can only create it using SQL?

E.g, having this SQL query, would it exist an DDS equivalent?
CREATE TABLE ivan/ALFVISCL7
(
id BIGINT GENERATED ALWAYS AS IDENTITY
     (START WITH 1, INCREMENT BY 1 MINVALUE 1 NO MAXVALUE NO CYCLE NO ORDER
CACHE 20)
     not null,
textito VARCHAR(30)
);

Thanks for any info, and regards.
